new skirt
I hoped this blog would serve as a journal (with pictures of course) of my sewing projects for 2011. Good news is that I have completed a jacket, skirt and blouse and it is only the beginning of February. Yipee! Hope to find time to post pictres of all three. Really. I did finish them. I am definitely off to a great start and on track for making 12 garments this year. There are many more ideas swirling around in my head so more to come soon.

One Garment Every Month for a Year?
I don't know if I can do it but I am going to try. I have sewn many beautiful things for my two young children but now it is time to sew garments for myself. 12 as a matter of fact. I'd like to sew at least one every month. It sounds possible, right? Have two patterns and am working on my first piece. I decided that if I write about it I will have a history and be able to see my progress. Perhaps more than anything it will make me finish what I started. Well we'll see. Goal for January: One metalic linen jacket. Pattern is by Cynthia Rowley (simplicity 2443) and it is oh so cute (on the cover). Let's see how mine turns out. Not sewing today though. Much more to do. Work for one - I have boat loads. Must also hang curatins in daughter's room. A redo of her room was her 9th birthday present and we are working on the finishing touches. I don't have many window treatments that I didn't make myself so I'll be whistling while hanging the rod. Easy peasy! More later

Welcome
You have landed yourself at the blog of a woman who is a wife, mother and a long list of other very common titles so many of us have. I enjoy fashion, sewing, baking, and spending time in the garden all of which require time and that is something very sparce around here. I am married to a wonderful Southerner . . .well he was actually born in Korea. He does say he is a native of Nashville. But doesn't that only count when you are born here? I'll claim him and keep him anyhow. That reminds me that just the other day he was drilling our 8 year old on her multiplication facts and while checking her work he mumbled his answers in Korean. Note: If you learn your math facts in Korean it is gonna stick.
